WPL Does NaNoWriMo!

Welcome to the Wilmington Public Library NaNoWriMo program, which will run from October 2020 through November 2020.

NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, which is observed during November every year. The official goal for this month is to write 50,000 words. This can take whatever form you choose. You can write original fiction, non-fiction, poetry, fanfiction, children's stories, stand-up comedy routines, plays, movie scripts, or anything else you can think of. A traditional NaNoWriMo goal is 50,000 words because that is the minimum word count for most published works to be considered a novel.

For 2020, we are a virtual group and program. Esther will be your NaNoWriMo guide.

Getting Started

Step 1: Sign up using the NaNoWriMo website! You will need:

a.            An email address

b.            A password for your NaNoWriMo account

c.            A username for your NaNoWriMo account (this can be your real name, or one you make up, or anything you want!)

Step 2: Sign up for the WPL program by October 31. This involves at least one of the following:

a.            Registering at the front desk (give name email, and age) for the NaNoWriMo Program

b.            Registering on Beanstack for the NaNoWriMo 2020 Challenge (log in to your Beanstack account to access challenge and register)

Step 3: Esther will add you to the WPL NaNoWriMo group on the NaNoWriMo website

Step 4: Watch your emails for updates from Esther (esther at wilmington.lib.oh.us) and from the NaNoWriMo website! Starting in October, the website will allow us to announce our projects and start planning! Esther will send out information about the WPL program through emails.

WPL Challenge Activities

We have some specific challenge activities to go along with our program. You can earn prizes by completing these activities throughout the program.

These activities can be completed either through Beanstack or by filling out paper forms available at the library circulation desk and returning them to the library before November 30. An activity MUST be completed by November 30 in order to receive a reward for that activity.
